You’ve seen Eos on the streets, ever wonder why VW name this car EOS? I too thought it could be an abbreviation of some other name. The truth is, Eos is actually from Greek mythology which means Goddess of the dawn.  After 4 years introduce to the market Volkswagen is giving their Goddess of the dawn – Eos a facelift.

Amazingly VW  has done a good job for this Eos Cabriolet coupe facelift, by changing the eyes of the EOS – surrounding it with LED lights. The whole idea is following the new Passat, Golf – VW new styling, the front bumper as also been updated. Now, the front upper grille is now separated from the lower grille.

From the rear the rear lights is inherited from the new VW Golf that we reported earlier, switching from the old roundish lights to now a more rectangular with LED lightings. The rear bumper has been revised and included with a diffuser. Interior wise, not much changes as it is the standard VW styling which can be easily seen in other VW models such as Golf.

However, there will be some tweak of the air conditioning system, and to have additional features on the keyless system.  There will be a new multi-function display and as a addition, a remote control for the retractable hardtop.

As for the engine VW will implement it’s BlueMotion technology pairing with start-stop system and regenerative braking on the 2.0L TDI diesel version of VW EOS to for better fuel economy. As for the petrol version, the engine remains the same.  Further details of the facelifted Volkswagen Eos will be made available in November this year.

To us, Volkswagen did a huge change in this facelift in terms of exterior for the Eos, it’s almost like from the old MK5 Golf model changing to the new MK6 Golf model making the new VW Eos more aggressive and desirable. The new Volkswagen Eos will go for sale in early next year – 2011.
