Honda Automobile (Thailand) officially launched the new 2011 Honda Brio on last Thursday at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon, Bangkok, Thailand. The concept car was previously showcased at the 27th Thailand International Motor Expo. This car will go on sale in South East Asia (Asean) region from May 2011. This car will be marketed directly as a rival for the Hyundai i10 and Suzuki Alto.
Honda’s new model measures 3,610mm in length, 1,680mm in width and 1,475mm in height, making it 375mm shorter and 15mm narrower than the Jazz/Fit. This Honda Brio is fitted with 90hp 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine mated with a manual 5-speed manual or CVT transmission. This car offers an average fuel consumption of 5 litres/100 km, while respecting the Euro 4 emission standards.
All models for Thailand feature 2 front airbags, disc brakes, ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution). Honda Thailand expects to sell approximately 40,000 units of the new Brio this year in Thailand. The price tag for the Honda Brio start from 399,900 baht.
The Brio will meet the driving and lifestyle needs of people who are looking for a stylish and compact, yet spacious and fuel-efficient car that carries a brand that they can trust for its advanced and safety technologies, said Atsushi Fujimoto, Honda Thailand president.
By the way, we have no immediate update or news from Honda Malaysia whether this car will be imported from Thailand to be marketed in Malaysia. Anyway, we will keep everyone posted if there is any update on this.
