Last weekend, Team FXPrimus Aylezo finished double podium for Round 9 and 10 of Blancpain Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series in Shanghai. It was an outstanding race weekend for the team with one pole position and two second placed finish at Shanghai International Circuit. The Shanghai International Circuit has a very different layout of track compared to Zhuhai International Circuit. This means that the team had to change their strategy to make the most of the long straights and intense turns that make this track so challenging.

However, Zen was unable to get a perfectly clear lap during the qualifying round and managed to get ninth position.Race one was one of the intense race of the weekend, when Afiq started the race well, reclaimed one lost position and then pulled a 10-12 second gap by the pit-stop session. Later on, Zen took over the car, the team looked in a great position for the win, until disaster struck, leaving Zen having to stop and reboot the car on turn three.
[singlepic id=16568 w=630 h= float=]“Afiq passed the car to me in the lead with a good gap, but as I got in the car, I saw the engine error lighton.Usually it means two things, either I reset it or it will go away by itself and since I saw the 5 second ‘ready-to-go’ sign I told myself ‘ok, let’s not reset so I won’t lose anytime’ and took arisk”said Zen after the race. The gamble did not pay off but Zen’s quick thinking allowed the team the chance to rejoin the race and finish in third. But as the team went in, there was a bit of confusion as they were told that because of penalties, Team FXPrimus Aylezo were awarded the win.
[singlepic id=16544 w=630 h= float=]“We were a little confused but happy too when they told us that we were in fact second, since one of the teams was excluded from the win. Then when we got to the podium, they said that Dilantha’s team was penalised with a 30 second time added penalty which pushed us up to first. It was not how we wanted our first win to be.Race two was started off by Zen in position nine. As the lights turned green, he pushed on and successfully overtake four cars halfway through the first lap. Later on in the race, the tyres wore off causing Zen to loss two spots before heading the car to Afiq.
[singlepic id=16607 w=630 h= float=]Once Afiq got in the car, he set a blistering pace and began to pressure drivers ahead of him, picking them off one-by-one until he was in second place at the chequered flag. With an outstanding performance by Team FXPrimus Aylezo, they deserve double podium for this race weekend.
