Lexus IS 200t with 2.0-litre Turbocharged Engine Launched in Malaysia

Lexus Malaysia unveiled the newest addition to its line-up of luxury models with the introduction of the Lexus IS 200t, the latest variant to be offered in the Lexus IS range.

In replacement of the previous Lexus IS 250, the new IS 200t variants have been upgraded with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, complemented with the 8-speed Sports Direct Shift auto transmission.

Tailored to suit the needs of the Malaysian market, the IS range by Lexus Malaysia is available in four variants – Lexus IS 200t Premium, Lexus IS 200t Luxury, Lexus IS 200t F SPORT, and Lexus IS 300h, which now comes with an 8-year hybrid battery assurance programme, on top of the 3 years or 100,000km standard warranty, whichever comes first.

Commenting on Lexus, with the introduction of the newest Lexus IS models, Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor said, “This is a remarkable year for us as we have seen the journey of the new 2.0 litre turbo engine developed by Lexus. It was first launched in Malaysia with the Lexus NX in January. Now, the new engine journey continues as its being incorporated to the Lexus IS range.”

Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor said, “Some of the improvements we have done to the Lexus IS include upgrade in its safety features along with its performance capabilities to enhance driving comfort and safety.”

In addition to the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, the improvements made to the new Lexus IS range are safety features such as 10 SRS airbags and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert for the Luxury, F SPORT and Hybrid variants.”

Datuk Ismet also said, “Since its launch in 2007, Lexus IS has exceeded our expectation and contributed to Lexus Malaysia’s sales. We believe that this newly upgraded range will continue to be just as well received, if not more.”

The IS has contributed to Lexus Malaysia’s overall sales and uplifted the company to Top 3 in the Luxury vehicle segment in 2015.

Prices of the new Lexus IS are; RM298,000 for IS 200t Premium; RM 350,000 for Lexus IS 200t Luxury, RM 385,000 for Lexus IS 200t F SPORT; and RM 452,000 for the Hybrid version.
