Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), the official importer of Porsche in Malaysia, launched the new generation 911 together with Macan GTS on 17th June 2016, at Porsche Centre Sungai Besi, in conjunction with the 24 hours Le Mans race weekend.
“The 911 is our tradition; it is also our future and will never stop evolving and improving. It has been the world’s best-selling sports car for decades and this new generation of 911 has arrived to further extend this lead. In addition to that, the extremely sporty Macan GTS combines high level of Porsche driving dynamics with outstanding everyday utility. Like all Porsche models that bear these three letters, the new GTS version of the Macan is inspired by motor racing” said Mr. Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of SDAP at the launch of the new 911.
Thanks to more than four decades of experience with turbo engines – in both motor racing and production sports cars, the new three-litre six-cylinder flat engine with twin-turbo charging, an advanced chassis that seamlessly balances the combination of performance and comfort, along with a new infotainment system, the new 911 sets benchmarks in terms of performance, driving pleasure and efficiency while the rear-axle steering available as an option for the S models for the first time further extends the range of driving dynamics.
Many exterior features of the 911 have been visually refined: new headlights with four-point daytime running lights to door handles without recess covers, a redesigned rear lid with vertical louvres and new rear lights – including the distinctive four-point brake lights while a tail light strip of the 44 mm wider rear end of the 911 Carrera 4S further distinguishes it from the rear-wheel-drive models. In the interior, the new standard Porsche Communication Management with a multi-touch display offers a considerably expanded range of functions while simplifying the user experience.
The Macan GTS comes with a reengineered chassis, 20 hp more than the Macan S with reinforced brakes completing the package. In terms of power and torque, its three-litre V6 bi-turbo engine produces 360 hp and 500 Nm placing the Macan GTS between the Macan S and the Macan Turbo while the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) provides flexible power distribution between front and rear axles. The century sprint is completed in 5.2 seconds – and in just 5.0 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package and top speed is 256 km/h.
