How can an automaker market their product if they leave out 1.6 billion people? It is a wise move by Honda, thumbs up!
The above car which looks similar to the 4th generation of Honda City is known as Li Nian S1′ in China and currently exhibiting at the 2010 China International Automobile Exhibition. Li Nian is a newly formed branding by Guangqi Honda, a Chinese joint venture owned by Honda and the Guangzhou Automobile Group.
The Li Nian S1 is based off the previous generation Honda City that marketed in between 2002-2008 in South East Asia. According to Honda, the S1 targets the younger generation in China and adopts a powerful, energetic and outstanding design form.
The S1 will be available in the market on Q2 2011 through the current Guangqi Honda sales channel with engine options including 1.3 and 1.5 litre engine. The engine is mated with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Moreover, we are unable to confirm whether the 1.3 litre engine will be using the i-DSI.
